Today I leave Athens, Georgia to return home to Salt Lake City, Utah. Its been an adventure of a semester here at UGA, but nothing gold can stay.
I saw this picture before I left Utah, but now leaving Athens, it means so much more.
“glory glory to ol Georgia”
The Final Chapter. 3 Days and What have we learned?
Today marks 4 months since I left Utah to embark on this whirlwind adventure of a semester at The University of Georgia. It also marks that I only have 3 days left. I’m sure these next 3 days will be emotional and filled with reflection. There is no way to put into words what I have experienced, seen, done, and accomplished. I know once I get home there’ll be question upon question, “how was it!?” “What did you do?” “What was your favorite part?” etc etc. My answer will simply be a sly smile and deep thought.
I smile because its an impossible question that can only be fully explained if you were here or you experienced something similar yourself. Deep thought because I know that I still need to answer, and want to share as much as I can with everybody. My answer will most likely change every time I get asked. My experience has been so great, that I loved it all, and there’s no way to choose what one adventure I loved more than the others. SEC Football Between the Hedges? Socials at the house that turned into Downtown excursions? Trips across Georgia? Weekend parties with my fellow Utes? The ya’lls, fixin toos, and bless their hearts? Yeah. My answer will change every, single, time.
There is no way to sum up this semester, and I feel that I wont fully understand what this semester away has truly done for me; maybe a few years from now I’ll have a better grasp on it. For now, this National Student Exchange has given me a fresh, unique perspective of life. My Tumblr posts, Tweets, Facebook statuses, and uploaded pics all paint a very vivid picture of my time here, but the true experience is how I’ve personally grown from this.
So now that I only have 3 days left, what have we learned? My answer? A sly smile, and deep thought.
I miss Utah.
I’ve learned that Georgia will forever be apart of me.
“ There was no dishonor in Georgia’s loss. Georgia didn’t choke. It didn’t hand Alabama a thing. The Tide had to take the lead from the Bulldogs. And then they had to hang on for dear life as Murray led UGA to the brink of an upset. ”
